We could spend many hours telling you all about how amazing Humidex technology is. It is not only remarkable, but also incredibly efficient. But instead, why don’t we explain to you how our product works?
Let’s start by reviewing some notions you were probably taught in school but thought were pretty useless. You probably remember the cold air is “heavier” then hot air. This is one of the reasons why hot air balloons fly. Right then, back to Humidex. In your home, cold, moist air migrates to the lowest point in the building, usually your basement. This explains why basements tend to be more humid and sometime smelly, especially during the hot summer time.
Humidity combined with poor ventilation eventually gives rise to bad odours, moulds and mildew, which will enter the walls, floors, drywall and eventually whatever you have in your basement. In the long run, as well as being very unpleasant, this will also affect the value of your property and your health.
Humidex vs your old dehumidifier
Your dehumidifier condenses the humidity out of the air and collects the water in a bucket below the machine. If you forget to empty the bucket on a regular basis, the dehumidifier will stop working because it’s full. Humidity will be rising again and the water sitting in the machine will go back into the air, increasing the humidity lever even more. That is not what could be called improvement.
Humidex, on the other hand, is a mechanical ventilation appliance. The Humidex unit has a quiet, powerful fan that draws the air through the bottom vents and expels it outside through a 6-inch duct. The air from the upper level, which is dryer and warmer, replaces the air that has been expelled, lowering the humidity level in the basement.
After a short period of time, moisture in structures will be drawn to the surface, enter the ambient air and be expelled from your home. Dampness and unpleasant odours in your basement will gradually become nothing more than a bad memory.
Addition to the Humidex family of products
In the spring of 2016, Humidex launched a new digital unit that has 2 monitoring systems: one in the basement and one on the first level of your home. These 2 control points give the system all the readings it needs to assure the optimal circulation of air for the most efficient humidity control. The HCS units are available for basements and crawl spaces. These units will even be able to detect whether an AC system is present and will adjust accordingly to improve its effectiveness. How great it that?
Humidex units – for comfort and cleaner air all around your home!
Humidex units work very differently then your old dehumidifier. They monitor the level of humidity and get it out of your home. No need to empty water buckets, no need to adjust the unit.
